Improve your well-being

The benefits of massage have long been proven. From reduced heart rate, lower blood pressure and improved blood circulation for the treatment of muscle pain, right through to the more complicated issues like increased endorphins and stimulated nerve action, which helps with muscle relaxation and stress relief. And to think these benefits (and many more) have been wrapped up and put into a chair that not only massages, but also feels like the hands of a real massage professional.

Experience Our Luxury Massage Chairs.

The modes on our massage chairs offer a range of massages that follow the contours of your spine, massaging your neck, back, legs and feet. At the push of a button, here's what you can look forward to when you relax in one of our massage chairs:

Rolling: Replicates the gentle hands of a massage therapist, pressing firmly on one side of your spine and then the other.

Kneading: Feels like thumbs pressing firmly in a circular motion on both sides of the spine.

Kneading and Compression*: Gives you a vigorous deep-tissue massage. This is the most intensive massage available.

Compression: Feels like the palms of a professional therapist's hands firmly pushing on muscles alongside the spine and inward toward the spine itself.

Percussion: Feels like fists or the edge of hands rapidly tapping on your back muscles.

Foot Massage*: Feels like human hands squeezing your feet.

Calf Massage*: Firmly massages the muscles of your calves from your ankles towards your knees to relieve stress and soreness.

Full-Body Stretching*: Gentle body stretching program which actively massages your lower back.

Interferntial Electro-Muscle Stimulation (IFC/EMS)

Interferntial Current/Electro-Muscle Stimulation (IFC/EMS) is a therapeutic treatment to aid in pain relief and promote soft tissue healing. Tiny amounts of electrical impulses are induced into the tissue adjacent to the injury. Where these waves intersect below the surface of the skin, low frequency stimulation is created, prompting the body to secrete endorphins (pain relieving hormones). Most patients find the treatment extremely beneficial and describe it as a "tingling" sensation. It is most often used for pain relief and to aid in reducing soft tissue swelling. Sprains, strains and spasms often respond to this treatment, which also reduces atrophy and increases blood circulation.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound is a therapeutic treatment using high-frequency sound waves in the region of soft tissue injuries. Sound vibrations penetrate deep into tissue, causing a heat response. These vibrations and heat break down and disperse calcium and other hard tissue accumulations. It uses gel to conduct the sound waves. This gel may momentarily feel cool, but otherwise, most patients feel nothing at the time of treatment. Relief comes a few minutes to hours later. The rise in temperature, increased blood flow, and relaxed muscle spasms speed the healing process.

Trigger Point Therapy and Myofascial Release Therapy

Trigger points are areas of uncontrolled muscle tightness, which cause tenderness and occasionally referred pain, and interfere with normal muscle and joint motion. Some people call them "knots." Fascia is the connective tissue surrounding muscles. Restrictions in the fascia also interfere with normal joint motion and can cause pain.

Trigger point therapy and myofascial release therapy both use the hands or other instruments to locate tight bands or nodules of muscle and fascial fibers. Then, the muscle/fascia is compressed with sustained pressure to relax it and release any adhesions. As pressure is applied, some patients feel temporary discomfort until the muscle relaxes. Others may feel pain referred to other parts of the body. Both therapies are highly effective ways to reduce muscle spasm and soft tissue adhesions, restoring normal range of motion and promoting faster tissue healing. They also help break down scar tissue formation and promote better circulation.

Functional Rehabilitation of Spine and Extremities

Dr. Russell's treatment philosophy not only deals with treating the pain of musculoskeletal injuries, but also deals with removing the dysfunction these injuries can cause.  Once the patient is able, he utilizes his knowledge of fuctional rehabilitation to return the patient to their maximum potential.

Dr. Russell will use Therabands, Foam Rollers, Stability Balls, Wobble Boards, and other balance equipment along with a variety of positions and techniques to ensure the target muscles are correctly facilitated.  By strengthening the muscles which are weak he is able to help his patients not only get better, but stay better.  This total system approach sets Dr. Russell apart from many other practioners who are only interested in pain management.

State of the Art Chiropractic Tables

Flexion/Distraction Therapy (Cox Table)
This technique was primarily used for disc herniations and bulges, but is now used to treat a number of low back conditions. It works by slowly moving the lower half of the table down and back up to the neutral position. This pumping action creates a small vacuum affect on the disc bulge and can help reduce the disc bulge/herniation by several millimeters which can significantly reduce lower back and/or leg pain. Over time the disc wi
ll become accustomed to your daily activities and will allow you to go about your normal daily living. In addition, the flexion/distraction therapy can help open specific lumbar areas to take additional pressure off of the lumbar (lower back) nerve roots. This therapy is highly effective, conservative treatment for herniated/bulging lumbar discs.
